Many people love the idea of coming over to Spain just for the holiday season and living in Spain for the summer while working to pay their way.

Most will be students looking for summer work abroad to give them a combination of earning money over the summer before they go back to study in September, while also feeling like they are on holiday.

You may also be a traveller looking to stop off in Spain and you want to get a summer job (also known as seasonal jobs & work) to partially fund and pay for your travelling costs.

The truth is that there are many summer jobs to be had in Spain due to the extremely popular tourist industry, in fact most years Spain is the second most visited country in the world. In 2022, 71.6 million foreign tourists visited Spain with the majority being from the United Kingdom.

Because Spain is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world there is a real need for short-term workers, especially English-speakers, just for the summer months of June, July, August and to a lesser degree September.

If you are searching for summer jobs in Spain the most obvious one is to look for is summer bar work and bar jobs in the most popular Spanish tourist spots. These do also include the big cities of Madrid and Barcelona as they also get high visitor numbers.

How Much Can I Earn Over The Summer?

Expect wages in Spain to be low as employers take advantage of the fact that Spain is a desirable place to be spending your summer. If you are lucky lodging and accommodation will be included with your summer job. Wages are likely to be approximately €8-10 an hour. Many jobs and work in Spain will be part-time not full-time.

Clearly working in Spain for the summer is all about having the experience of a lifetime, not earning and saving money. Also you are in competition with workers from Eastern Europe and Morocco.
