This page is all about the town of Ondara on the northern Costa Blanca coast of Spain.

It contains useful Ondara tourist information for people intending to visit or holiday in Ondara.

Ondara is located on the northern Costa Blanca area of Spain. Ondara is set slightly inland from the coast.

To the south are the towns of Denia, Pedreguer, La Jara, Els Poblets and El Verger.

To the north are Oliva and Gandia. Even further inland are the similar sized towns of Orba and Pego.

To get to Ondara you can either fly into Alicante airport or Valencia airport. Once at the airport you have a range of different airport transfer options to Ondara including private shuttle buses, taxis or car hire.

Ondara is a medium sized town mainly based around agriculture, in particular oranges and lemons. There is some tourism because of Ondara’s close proximity to the coast and the thriving tourist town of Denia.

The northern Costa Blanca is a popular area in which many expats have settled, especially the British, possibly because of the greeness of the area.

The town of Ondara is surrounded by orange groves and vineyards with mountains in the background making for a very scenic and country location.

Access is good because Ondara is just off the A7 autoroute (motorway) and the N-322 road passes around the town. It is recommended to take out car hire to get about.

A medieval market is held every November.

Guide to Hotels in Ondara

This guide is for people looking to book a hotel in Ondara. We have tips and hints before you make a hotel reservation in Ondara as well as a list of Ondara hotels.

Ondara is a medium sized town set slightly inland just north of the major Costa Blanca town of Denia. With it’s Moorish history the old town centre retains many colourful houses. You can fly into the nearest airports at either Alicante or Valencia and hire a car in Ondara to explore the area.

At the entrance to every Ondara hotel will be a plaque showing the hotel rating according to the Spanish tourist board.

Hotels in Ondara include the Valero which is located on the Avenida Alicante, and the Hotel La Palmera Denia Ondara which is situated on the Partida de Pedregals.

One star hotels in Ondara are of a very basic standard. This will be the cheapest hotel accommodation in Ondara. Expect a dated decor and possible uncomfortable bed although the hotel room should be clean. Expect your room to not have on-suite bathroom but a bathroom in the hallway which will be shared by other guests. A one star Ondara hotel will have no facilities such as telephone or internet access. Our advice is to check the room first before you commit to staying!

Examples of one star hotels in Ondara:

Hotel La Palmera *
Ctra. Valencia, 91 – Ondara, Spain.
Telephone: 96 647 6148

Hotel Ramis *
C/ Mariano Benlliure, 6 Ondara, Spain.
Telephone: 96 576 6313

It’s the Holy Week procession. One of hundreds of fiestas here. Another one is the bull running. Just as medieval.

I live in Ondara. We moved from Jávea. From a small flat to a large town house we are slowly doing up. It’s shockingly unfriendly. I used to walk the dogs around here but the filthy looks put paid to that. Here many dog owners let their pets pee and poo on the doorsteps of neighbours, so all dog owners are tarred with the same brush. It’s a dreadfully unfriendly place. I used to make gargantuan efforts to integrate. Here I just don’t bother. I introduced myself to neighbours and some were lovely but many are frankly feral. If you want to know what Medieval Europe probably felt like, move to Ondara. Not to some chalet, but to a town house. Now I understand why the rich built castles with moats.

    Hi.
A few years ago I stumbled over an Easter procession in Ondara. A remarkable experience. Scary masks/hat’s and drums.
I guess this is a annual fiesta.
This year I will bring my family to see this procession, but I can’t find any program !
Do you have a program for this years Easter fiesta or a link to where I can find the program, dates, hours ?

    Best regards Tom
