Moving to Punta Prima
If you are thinking of moving to Punta Prima, then you must read our expat interview with Laura of E-Style Estate Agents in Spain below:
Laura, what would you say would be the advantages to living in Punta Prima compared to other Costa Blanca towns?
In Punta Prima no matter if it is winter or summer time the people will always enjoy the restaurants and bars open all year around. Also not just that, there are many shops where you can get everything you need as well as banks, gym and popular commercial centre of Punta Marina. Most of our clients who are buying or selling homes say that Punta Prima is a perfect place to live, also there is a beautiful seaside with one small and another big sandy beach. Many people live here permanently, there is also a bus service going to the hospital, Torrevieja and La Zenia shopping centre.
Punta Prima has very well developed infrastructure, friendly and safe atmosphere, beautiful residential complexes, luxury villas and many new build properties which also shows how quick this area is growing.
Would the area not suit certain types of people, i.e. are there any possible downsides?
Not really, I think Punta Prima suits everybody who like Spanish lifestyle !
What proportion of the local population are Spanish?
I would say that 40% Spanish and 60% foreigners.
What are your favourite things to do in the area?
I love to go on the seaside, there are two very nice restaurants with fantastic views and very good food, cocktail bar where you can enjoy great music and a nice drink with your friends or alone!
Can you give us some insider tips to the best bars or restaurants?
My favourite restaurant is PIAZZA II in the commercial centre of Punta Marina here you will have really amazing food, also very good value menu with a lot of dishes to choose from, MUST TRY! Also, for a very good Italian pizza you can visit PICCOLINO. Another great restaurants for a very good meal are NAUTILUS and PUNTA PRIMA, situated on the beachside and with lovely terraces overlooking the sea. There are many other great restaurants for every taste!
Are there many facilities such as doctors and dentists, shops etc?
There is a supermarket of Consum and big Carrefour. Also many other shops: post office, furniture and electrical appliances shops (JYSK and MILAR), currency exchange office, also 2 big Chinese shops where you can buy everything for your home and garden. All in a short walking distance. Dentists and doctors you can find nearby Punta Prima, hospital of Torrevieja is less than 5min by car. There is a veterinary clinic in the commercial centre.
Are there smaller villages nearby that you might also recommend?
Nearby Punta Prima you will have other popular areas such as Playa Flamenca, La Zenia, Villamartin and many others, there is a national road of N332 connecting all of the areas so it is very easy to get everywhere.
What are the nearest international schools and how good are they?
There is a Norwegian school and few English schools (10-20min drive away from Punta Prima). I heard that the private schools are very good.
Is crime an issue for expats?
Definitely no.
Coming onto buying property, what is the market like now in terms of prices going up, or down or staying the same?
The prices little by little are going up.
Is this a good time to buy and are there any repossessions or very cheap properties still available to buy?
The time to buy is very good as the prices are still not too high. There are not many bank repossessions and very cheap properties but we always get bargain properties to list!
What urbanisations are there and can you describe each one and how they might differ from each other?
In Punta Prima are quite many urbanisations but the most popular one are:
– Señorio de Punta Prima with its luxury complexes of La Entrada, Panorama Park, Parque Recoleta and La Recoleta. These complexes are ideal for the people who like mediterranean style. The complexes have only apartments, the community with tropical gardens, beautiful communal pools, 24 hours security, underground parking and a short walking distance to the beach and all amenities. Here many people live permanently and have as investment properties. In this complex the apartments have very high investment potential, the owners can earn really good money just from short term rentals.
– The new luxury complex of Sea Senses right in the front of the sea, fantastic community with the gym, playgrounds, several pools, jacuzzi, bar and spectacular sea views. This is for the people who like more modern style and again it is very high investment potential that can give really good money from the rentals.
– Rocio del mar, here the building are older and the prices much cheaper, you can get apartment with 2 or 3 beds, some are older style and some very nicely reformed. This is perfect for the people who want to come for a holiday and don´t want to spend too much money. The location is very good, near the beach and all the amenities. Some have communal pools as well and communal solariums overlooking the sea.
– On another side of N332 you will find one of the most popular urbanisations – La Ciñuelica. That is very large area with apartments, bungalows and townhouses. The complex is very well looked after and has beautiful communal areas with large pools, some have underground parking and storage rooms. This is mediterranean style, white houses popular among the foreigners and Spanish people.
– Las Villas, the complex located just behind our office in commercial centre of Punta Marina. Here you will find detached villas with lovely gardens. A great place for those who want to move here permanently.
– Mariblanca, urbanisation with beautiful yellow townhouses, green areas and wonderful pools. Most of the people live here all year around, quite difficult to get one for sale there and if we get gets sold very quickly!
How much are the typical property prices in Punta Prima for apartments, villas etc?
The apartments starts from 60.000 EUR, townhouses from 95.000 EUR and villas from 140.000 EUR
Any tips and advice to people looking to buy in Punta Prima or surrounding area?
Simple advice, have a look at the urbanisations and see which one suits best. Each one has its character and style. We can always show around and helot the buyers to find the best one for them!

Hotels And Accommodation
There are lots of apartments and villas to rent in the Punta Prima area however if you are looking for a hotel consider the Torre Joven Hotel just off the roundabout on the main N-332 coastal road.
This hotel is also known as the Punta Prima Torrejoven Hotel. Located on the northern part of the Orihuela Costa, the Torrejoven Hotel in Punta Prima is a good option if you wish to stay in Punta Prima and is an alternative to a self-catering apartment or villa rental. Situated right beside the Punta Prima roundabout on the N-332 coast road between Torrevieja and Playa Flamenca, the Torrejoven Hotel is easy to reach and handy as a base for visiting this popular area.
One of the positives is that you don’t even need to consider Punta Prima car hire as you can get a quick and easy and inexpensive airport transfer to Punta Prima from either Alicante airport or Murcia airport which will dramatically reduce your holiday costs.
It has a swimming pool and sun terrace for enjoying the beautiful weather that Punta Prima experiences, though Punta Prima beach is not too far away, and within walking distance for visitors staying in the hotel. Also right beside the hotel is Punta Prima strip or bars, shops, banks and restaurants, and also Punta Marina commercial centre with even more choice of restaurants, retail and entertainment options (including a McDonalds).
