The most popular Denia airport is flying into Alicante airport which has the most flight options with many low-cost carriers offering services. Alicante airport is 104 km to the south and the journey time is approximately 71 minutes to Denia.
Valencia airport is also worth checking for cheap flights and is 117 km to the north with an approximate transfer time of 80 minutes to Denia.
There is also a third transfer option to Denia which is to fly into San Javier Murcia Airport which is 185 km to the south with a transfer time of 120 minutes (Ryanair service Murcia airport).

How much does it cost to get a taxi from Alicante airport to Denia?
Taking a taxi from Alicante airport to Denia is the most expensive transfer option but also the most convenient because immediately outside the arrivals hall at Alicante airport is the taxi rank with taxis available 24 hours a day.
The journey time ninety minutes at a cost of €140. This is the fastest and most convenient way to get to Denia but not the cheapest.
It is advisable to try and fix the price of the fare before leaving the airport.
Always check with your driver before you start the journey because sometimes there are extra passenger supplements and baggage supplements on top. If there are fiestas in Denia, in other words public holidays in Denia, the taxi fare is likely to be higher.
Getting a taxi to Denia from Alicante is extremely convenient because your driver will take you directly to your accommodation options such as your hotel.
Private Shuttle Bus to Denia
Private Transfer from Alicante Airport to Denia: Shuttle companies such as Costa Blanca Transfers, Shuttle Direct, Blue Skies and Resort Hoppa offer a service which one can pre book to suit the size of the party. This kind of transfer is much like a taxi service with the exception that the transfer is pre booked with the option of using the shuttle service as well on the day of departure.

How much is a private shuttle bus from Alicante to Denia?
If you are able to plan your trip in advance you can pre-book a private shuttle bus transfer from Alicante airport to Denia for £55 per person each way.
The nice thing about booking a private shuttle transfer is that it is almost exactly the same as getting a taxi because you will be dropped at your chosen destination in Denia.
The only possible slight inconvenience is meeting up with your shuttle transfer company. Many of the major companies have desks actually in the arrivals terminal but some do not, so you actually have to meet a person who will take you to your shuttlebus.
Some companies offer what is known as shared shuttle bus transfers in either small mini-buses or coach transfers to Denia. These shared shuttles are cheaper than the private transfers but obviously you share the journey with a number of other people also going to Denia and you are each dropped off in turn. If you are lucky you could be first to be dropped off – or you could be the last!

Public Bus from Alicante Airport to Denia
At this moment in time there is only one direct service daily connecting Alicnte Airport with Denia and that service departs from Alicante Airport at 16:00 arriving in Denia at 18:00. The bus stops outside the hospital and at El Poblets.
The cost of this service is €14.50 per person for a single or €28.35 for a return. The service departing daily from Denia is at 17:50 and arriving at 20:35 To book your place on the bus you and look at https://www.alsa.es.
The other option again is to catch the C6 Airport bus to the Alicante City Centre which stops at the Calle Pinto Lorenzo Casanova 26 and then to Denia.
Buses depart from Alicante bound for Denia every hour from 07:00 in the morning and the last at 20:40. The journey time is between 2:10 and 2:30 at a cost of €10.10 for a single or €19.20 return. Buses leave Denia bound for Alicante every hour at 07:00 with the last bus leaving Denia at 22:30.
Train from Alicante Airport to Denia
There is currently no train station at Alicante Airport, but one could catch either a taxi or the C6 bus to the Puerto de Mar Stop. From here one can catch a train bound for Benidorm and Denia costing €6.55 for a single and €11.15 return. Because the train stops at every town and village between Alicante and Denia the journey time is as much as three hours and ten minutes which if travelling with small children can be very trying.
Denia Car Hire
Car Hire at Alicante Airport: One of the more popular ways to get from Alicante Airport to Denia. Denia is fairly spread out and unless you have booked a beach front apartment you will need a car to get around to the supermarkets, bars, pubs and restaurants.
Many of the villas are located well away from the city centre making car hire a necessity. All the major car companies are represented at Alicante Airport and one can compare companies to get the cheapest quote.
Car hire companies include Atesa, Auriga, Avis, Centauro, Europcar, Europa, Gold Car, Hertz, Record, Sixt and Sol Mar. Costs of hiring a car are dependent on the time of year, model and duration of the rental period.
The journey time of course would also be approximately fifty-five minutes. One can choose to pre book car hire which is a smart thing to do especially during the busy tourist season or organise the car hire after arriving at Alicante Airport.
It is a personal choice of how much money one is willing to spend on the transfer from Alicante Airport and Denia and how much time wants to spend in transit. The train service from Alicante Airport is the cheapest but if you are travelling with small children is not ideal especially during the very hot summer. Car hire does seem to be the way to go for vacations in Denia especially if one has booked a villa on the Montgo or on one of the more outer lying urbanisations of the resort.
Because Denia is quite a distance from either Alicante or Valencia it can be more economical to hire a car instead of getting airport transfers. Typically your average sized Denia car hire will cost approximately €100 per weeks hire and gives you the ability to explore the Costa Blanca region. Certainly there are some excellent places to visit such as Javea and Altea.
