How much does it cost to get a taxi from Alicante airport to Moraira?
Taxi from Alicante Airport to Moraira: The journey time is roughly an hour and twenty minutes depending on traffic at a cost of approximately €110.
Catching a taxi from Alicante Airport to Moraira is the fastest and most convenient way to get to the resort but certainly not the cheapest. One should try and fix the fare with the driver prior to departure from the airport.
The taxi from Alicante airport to Moraira will cost you approximately €95 depending on the time of day you arrive.
Confirm with your driver before you start the journey because sometimes there are extra passenger supplements and baggage supplements on top.
Your taxi fare could also be higher if you happen to live on a national holiday in Spain.
Private Shuttle Bus to Moraira
How much is a private shuttle bus from Alicante to Moraira?
Private Transfer from Alicante Airport to Moraira: There are many shuttle service companies providing transfers from Alicante Airport to Moraira. The most popular shuttle companies offering competitive rates include Costa Blanca Transfers, Resort Hoppa and Shuttle Direct.
Shuttle services are quite pricey and for a family of four one can expect to pay as much as €55 per person each way.
Example of prices – return airport transfer for 6 passengers from Alicante to Moraira – €240 which is about £200.
This kind of transfer is much like a taxi service with the exception that the transfer is pre booked with the option of using the shuttle service as well on the day of departure.
The travel time to Moraira from Alicante Airport again would be just over an hour.
If you are able to plan your trip in advance you can pre-book a private shuttle bus transfer from Alicante airport to Moraira for £47 per person each way.
The only possible slight inconvenience is meeting up with your shuttle transfer company.
Many of the major companies have desks actually in the arrivals terminal but some do not, so you actually have to meet a person who will take you to your shuttlebus.
Some companies offer what is known as shared shuttle bus transfers which are cheaper than the private transfers but obviously you share the journey with a number of other people also going to Moraira and you are each dropped off in turn.
This is fine if you are the first people to be dropped off but not if you are the last people! The size of vehicle varies from small mini-buses to coach transfers to Moraira.
Alternatives are private shuttlebus transfers from Valencia airport to Moraira for £79 per person each way or private shuttlebus transfers from Murcia airport to Moraira for £95 per person each way.
Public Bus from Alicante Airport to Moraira
Unfortunately there is no direct bus service from Alicante Airport to Moraira, although it is possible to catch the bus to Teulada from the Alicante City Centre which is nearby. One can catch the C6 bus from Alicante Airport and from there board the ALSA bus service bound for Teulada. There are five daily services from Alicante to Teulada with the first departure being at 13:30 and then again at 14:30, 16:00, 17:00 and 19:00.
The cost of such a ticket is €8.30 for a single or €15.75 return. Coming back from Teulada to Alicante there are three daily services which are at 16:00, 16:55 and 20:45.
The journey time from Alicante to Teulada can be as much as three hours, which can be difficult if one is travelling during the peak tourist season with small children. For further information, the exact timetable and reservations you can check out their site at www.alsa.es. From Teulada one can catch a bus to Moraira. Services are available with the Autobuses Ifach company.
Train from Alicante Airport to Moraira
This can be considered to be quite an arduous journey as there is currently no train station at Alicante Airport. It is doable if one catches the C6 bus to the Puerta de Mar Stop in Alicante. From there one can catch the TRAM L1 to Benidorm and then switch to the L9 directly to Teulada and Benissa.
The journey time to Moraira by train is at least three hours as the TRAM stops at every town village and sea side resort between Alicante and Benidorm as well as Benidorm to Teulada.
Ticket prices are approximately €7 per person each way. From either Teulada or Benissa one can either catch a taxi or the bus, regular services are available with the Autobus Ifach Company to Moraira. This is probably the cheapest way to get to Moraira from Alicante Airport but is especially difficult if one is travelling in the summer with small children.
Moraira Car Hire
Car Hire at Alicante Airport: One of the more popular ways to get from Alicante Airport to Moraira.
Moraira is quite spread out with any of the rented accommodations such as villas and apartments being located on urbanisations and on the hillsides of the resort. You will need a car to get around to the supermarkets, bars, pubs, restaurants and the beach.
All the major car companies are represented at Alicante Airport and you can compare companies to get the cheapest quote. Car hire companies include Atesa, Auriga, Avis, Centauro, Europcar, Europa, Gold Car, Hertz, Record, Sixt and Sol Mar. Costs of hiring a car are dependent on the time of year, model and duration of the rental period.
The journey time of course would also be approximately an hour. You can choose to pre book car hire which is a smart thing to do especially during the busy tourist season or organise the car hire after arriving at Alicante Airport.
It is a personal choice of how much money you are willing to spend on the transfer from Alicante Airport and Moraira and how much time you want to spend in transit.
Car hire does seem to be the way to go for vacations in Moraira especially if you have booked a villa on one of the more outer lying urbanisations of the resort. It is especially worth hiring a car if you wish to have days out at the neighbouring resorts such as Benissa, Javea, visit the fish market in Calpe and Benidorm.
Benidorm has the four theme parks of Terra Mitica, Terra Natura, Mundomar and Aqualandia which provide for great days out for the whole family and is about forty minutes away by car.
Because Moraira is quite a distance from either Alicante or Valencia it can be more economical to hire a car instead of getting airport transfers. Typically your average sized Moraira car hire will cost approximately €100 per weeks hire and gives you the ability to explore the Costa Blanca region. Certainly there are some excellent places to visit such as Denia, Guadalest and Altea.
