Mojácar is a beautiful mountain village located on the southern coast of Spain.
It overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and, because it is a tourist destination, it is important to know how to get there from the three nearest airports.
Airport Transfer from Alicante to Mojacar
Alicante is 200km from Mojácar, which is about a 2 ½ hour drive, and offers the best international connections.
While there is no bus service directly from Alicante to Mojácar, you can take a bus to Murcia and then catch another bus to finish the trip.
Though this is the least expensive way to get to your final destination, this is a rather prolonged journey; and if your flight arrives in Alicante later in the day, it is virtually impossible to arrive in Mojácar by bus until the next day.
You may want to rent a car, take a taxi, or hire a private shuttle, though all of these options are likely to cost as much as 100€ each way.
Private shuttles charge per person based on the size of the vehicle you will need, starting at about 90€; however, a driver will meet you at the airport and take you directly to your Mojácar destination.
Airport Transfer from Almeria to Mojacar
Almeria is only 90 km away, roughly a one-hour drive by car. Buses leave the Almeria airport every 20 or 30 minutes and will take you to the Alsa bus line, Alsa buses leave for Mojácar four times a day; the first bus leaves at 11:00 and the last bus for Mojácar leaves at 6:30 in the evening.
The cost for a round-trip ticket is just over 24€ per person, including tax, and the drive takes approximately an hour and a half.
Be certain to check the times both to match your schedule and to avoid the longest drive.
Though it is costly, about 100€, you can take a private taxi from Almeria to Mojácar.
Private shuttles are also available from this airport and work the same way as from Alicante, though the cost is much lower, starting at about 40€ per person.
Airport Transfer from San Javier Murcia to Mojacar
Murcia is a 1 ½ hour drive by car, only 130 km from Mojácar.
Only three buses leave the airport for Mojácar every day.
The first leaves early, at 4:30 in the morning, and the last one leaves Murcia at 7:30 in the evening.
The round-trip ticket for this 2-3 hour bus ride is roughly 35€, including tax.
Again, a taxi or private shuttle is always an option at an approximate cost beginning at 50€ per traveler.
If you rent a car, know that the car rental companies which operate at these airports are Europcar, Hertz rental and Goldcar and Mo-Car.
A shuttle is likely to be the most comfortable and direct form of transportation because bus service to Mojácar is limited, but of course it is also the most expensive choice.
As always, you should do some checking before you arrive to see what works best considering the number of people in your party, your budget and your arrival time at your particular airport.
One other factor to consider is the time of year in which you are traveling. If you are traveling during the peak season, June through August or during school holidays, you should make your travel reservations from the airport to Mojácar in advance.
