There are two types of properties available for purchase in Spain. There are new builds which usually come with a ten year guarantee meaning should something go wrong the construction company is responsible for fixing the problem.
The other types are resales which depending on the age of the villa might be newly renovated or in need of some reforming.
If you are looking for some local tradesman then word of mouth is of paramount importance. It is best not to just look in the Costa Blanca News. Many people who have moved to the Costa Blanca have reinvented themselves and don’t necessarily have the qualifications to do a professional job, so it is also best to ask for references and have a look at their latest completed jobs.
Many older homes need to be rewired or in necessity of new bathrooms or heating systems so it is good to have some reliable contacts that have been recommended.

It is also best to get in a few different tradesman and get the best possible quotes because rates do vary greatly especially amongst expats who think they should earn as much as they did in the United Kingdom!
