Denia is a great place to eat out because not only is it a large town but it is also a tourist town with great sandy beaches and people come to Denia from all over Europe. Because of this there are a large number of restaurants and a greater than normal variety of types of cuisine, food and many different dining out experiences. As Denia also has such a diverse population with many expats living here there are restaurants catering to many different tastes and nationalities. Cooking standards are usually high and usually include fresh local produce and ingredients.
Of course most restaurants in Denia cater for the large Spanish market and being right by the sea, Spanish restaurants serving great seafood dishes are in abundance but you will also find many Chinese restaurants, Indian restaurants, French restaurants and restaurants that cover many different menus, typically we refer to these as serving International cuisine. Meson Asador Gallego – Ctra Las Marinas Km 1 from Denia (on the right hand side) Tel: 96 643 0813.
“This rustic, dark wood restaurant specialises in the food from Galicia in the north of Spain. It has a very elegant, Spanish feel to the decor and the food is exceptional. Only a little English is spoken and your fellow diners will almost always be Spanish which adds to the atmosphere and the recommendation! A ‘busy’ painted sign showing meat grilling over an open fire hangs over the pavement and it is just after the garage on the right hand side as you leave Denia on the Las Marinas road. The actual entrance to the restaurant is a little hard to see from the road but persevere it is larger than you would expect and a real eating experience. Such restaurants are not cheap but they are very special. Dress up and be prepared to stay for hours!” Annie P. April ’08
“The Bambu is hidden away in a residential area near ‘Restaurant Alley’ which begins at the Las Marinas road with Cafe Solo as a good land mark. Go up ‘Restaurant Alley’ to the crossroads and turn right…Bambu is on your left almost immediately. It is a German owned restaurant which is open all day and evening Tuesday to Sunday in season. It has recently been completely renovated and emphasises Bamboo furniture as it’s name suggests. The interior is spacious and modern whilst being welcoming with various items of excellent quality, modern art on display by local artists. The bamboo theme also extends outside to the gardens. The International menu is extremely diverse and the food beautifully presented. An ideal place for a special meal.” Annie P. April ’08

La Galicia – also known as the cowshed! – “In winter it is lovely and warm and you can watch your steak being cooked. Also quite cheap.” Linda H. March ’08
La Sella – “On a warm, sunny day if you fancy a good cup of coffee in peaceful surroundings, if the hustle and bustle of the seafront does not appeal, the coffee shop near the La Sella tennis complex is a great place to sit and watch the (sometimes embarrassingly awful) tennis while you sip your coffee or hot chocolate and read the paper. There are stables nearby and you can hear the horses and smell the hay. All very soothing.” Jan G. March ’08
The Wok – “This was recommended so we trailed along there to sample the goodies. Really I was a bit disappointed, I found the food had been sitting in the servers for quite a long time and the sesame toast etc was a little tired and curled. It is a self service restaurant cobbled out of a car showroom or something equally enormous, with scary gold resin coated dragons everywhere and you can pick and choose dishes from a vast array of stainless steel bin things. However, I have been spoiled by waiter service and prefer food to come to me, not the other way around. It was okay but I would not go back. For those who yearn to queue for food, it’s on the main drag into Denia from Javea, shortly before ‘Casa’ on the right. There is another one in Javea near Barclays Bank roundabout.” Jan G. March ’08

David von Janowski says
Our group of four had a meal at Arena’s on 17th October 2014. As a vegetarian I Asked if it was possible to have a salad instead of the meat option. I was told this was not possible! So my main course (pasta) was brought to me when the three other guests were served their starters! I then sat for 1/2 hour with no food whilst my guests ate their main course. The waitress ignored me when I tried to order dessert and I had to call her back to the table to complete our orders! We found the whole experience embarrassing and ruined the atmosphere of having a pleasant meal. The pasta I had was bland and we were served no bread or olives. The overall bill was not cheap. We will never go back to Arena’s. The guest book entry I posted on their site was deleted. There are plenty of other better restaurants in Denia. Very disappointing.
