Bedar Costa Almeria: Essential Tourist Guide by Locals

Enjoy our quick guide to Bedar, an authentic Spanish village that’s nestled at the foot of the Cabrera Mountains in Spain’s Sierra de Bedar.

Located at around 15 km from the coast and the resort areas of Garrucha and Mojacar, Bedar is the perfect destination for anyone who wants to enjoy a rural holiday yet needs to stay near to the coast as well as to the amenities that it offers.

Why Retirement is a Terrible Idea (And What to Do Instead)...

For 30 years, I built businesses with one goal in mind: the finish line. Like many, I pictured the classic dream—moving to Spain, soaking up the sun, and finally switching off. But now that I’m here, I’ve started questioning everything.

Watch the video below and let me know in the comments: are you ready to retire or are you ready to reinvent?

Bedar is also popular among artists and visitors who are searching for an authentic Spanish experience. With a laid back lifestyle, charming locals and sunny days almost all days of the year, it’s no wonder why Bedar has become a favorite Spanish destination.

Below we feature an expat interview with Joanne Desmond of Olive Properties who covers the Bedar area.

Specifically, we wanted to learn from Jo the many reasons why people should consider moving to this area and the value for money they can get once they decide to stay permanently.

Jo, thanks for helping our readers. I guess we should start off by asking what would you say would be the advantages to living in Bedar compared to other Costa Almeria towns?

It’s warmers; cost of living is cheaper and it’s not as touristy and busy.
