The breathtaking vista of the Montgó Mountain can be seen from Javea, Denia and many of the surrounding towns. As the day progresses the light changes and the distinctive red rock of the Montgó is bathed in many different auras.

The Montgó rises to over 750 metres from the floor of the Javea valley. Known locally as the ‘Elephant’ mountain, because viewed from the Javea side it resembles an elephant’s head, with the trunk descending towards the sea and a cave for the eye (although many people find it impossible to see the elephant when looking at the Montgó!)
