Almoradi

The town of Almoradi is located slightly inland on Spain’s Southern Costa Blanca.

Almoradi is a small inland town located on the southern Costa Blanca with its nearest beach resort being Guardamar del Segura a mere ten minute drive away.

Almoradi is much quieter than its coastal neighbours but has become increasingly popular with foreign property buyers seeking the more authentic Spain.

Where is Almoradi?

Almoradi is located near two international airports. El Altet at Alicante is a forty minute drive away while San Javier at Murcia is a fifteen minute drive.

Once at the airport you have a range of different airport transfer options to Almoradi including private shuttle buses, taxis or  rent a car.

The main source of income is mainly in its agricultural produce of lemons, oranges and almonds, but this is slowly changing as holiday makers are staying in Almoradi and enjoying the beaches or playas at Guardamar del Segura nearby for a quieter pace of life.

Some of the main attractions in Almoradi are the Cortes Theatre, the casino and San Andres Church.

Amenities and Facilities

With a population of approximately 20,000, Almoradi is a reasonably sized town with good facilities for both residents and tourists. Rest assured you will find plenty of shops, bars, doctors and dentists.

There are many bars, restaurants, shops and restaurants in Almoradi with a busy Saturday being the market day with as many as five hundred stalls offering local produce.

Almoradi is a small town with very few restaurants, recommended by the locals you should visit Cafe Vienna, Silvino’s, San Remo, Terretremo, Angel, Taberno Iberico, Cafe Granada, Meson Sorolla, and Giovanni’s.

Almoradi is famous for its furniture shops and is a regular Spanish town in that sense that it has banks, butchers, pharmacies, doctors, dentists, vets, gyms, and bakeries etc which are open all year round and not just during the summer months when tourists make Almoradi their home.

For more shopping a visit to Torrevieja with its Habeneras shopping centre, busy marina, nightlife, Water Park and promenade is a must.

Fiestas

On the cultural front there are a small number of fiestas such as the Moors and Christians in July and Santo Semana at Easter.

Beaches

From Almoradi the nearest beach resort would be Guardamar del Segura, with the major tourist resort of Torrevieja just to the south. Other beach resorts within easy access to Almoradi include La Marina, La Zenia, Cabo Roig, Punta Prima and Playa Flamenca.

Almoradi will appeal to tourists wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of the coast. Almoradi is a quieter escape where you can still enjoy a genuine Spanish way of life complete with the traditional siestas, fiestas and restaurants serving Spanish foods.

Almoradi enjoys a warm Mediterranean climate with at least three hundred days of sunshine every year, temperatures in summer will not usually fall below 30 degrees Celsius with virtually no rainfall.

Weather Almoradí

The winters are generally very mild with most rainfall usually in November and January.

Almoradi has generally very hot dry summers with very mild winters with little rainfall, with what is generally known as a Mediterranean climate. The summers are much more comfortable with the high salt content from the salt lakes of the area contributing to the dry heat and making Almoradi enjoys one of the healthiest climates of Europe.

Road access to Almoradi is very good with the AP-7 autoroute (motorway) passing very close to Almoradi, this comes down from Alicante airport (only 20 minutes drive away) and goes south to Murcia San Javier airport.

Although a small town, Almoradi is growing all the time due to the growing amount of expats who are settling here due to the popular lifestyle of the Costa Blanca, as well as it’s mild climate in winter and hot summers.

Luz de Almoradi is a new development of luxury apartments located on the outskirts of the town of Almoradi. The apartments are built around beautiful gardens and large pool area.

Golf

Almoradi has a few golf courses nearby. The nearest course which is just 10 minutes drive is La Finca golf club but within 30 minutes drive you can also play at the Royal Campoamor golf club, Las Ramblas de Orihuela golf club and Villamartin golf club.

There are five popular golf-courses a short drive away from Almoradi, the nearest one being La Finca.

There are also Las Ramblas, Campoamor, La Marquesa and Villamartin close by.
